On the 17th of April 80 paddlers took to the river Thames to complete 26.2 miles by kayak on the same day as the London Marathon. The group of paddlers raised over £22,000 for 42 different charities. The event was run as a group paddle through the city starting and finishing at Tower Bridge. The atmosphere was electric as the group paddled under Tower Bridge with the runners crossing above, the helicopters buzzing in the sky and the crowds on the bridge cheering. This was the second London Kayakathon and the organisers are now making plans for the 2012 event on the 22nd of April.
